Hi I did attend a brief bee class back in Febuary. It was somewhat informative but being new to beekeeping I have a million questions. I could have sworn that the instructor said that before hiving a nuc or a package that you should spray new foundation with sugar water. She recommended that a product called HoneyBee Healthy be mixed with the sugar water prior to spritzing the foundation. If this is true, do you spray it on just prior to installing the bees or do you spray it on like a week in advance and allow it to dry first? We are expecting our nucs next Saturday and we are trying to get our hives ready.

If you are using wax foundation there's no need to spray. If you're using plastic, some folks think it helps acceptance. Spray with sugar solution when you add your bees.

A nuc is ready to do, center in the box, put new foundation around the perimeter. Spray foundation just before if you want. I don't use honey b healthy or spray bees. Alot of people do, especially new folks.
