after typhoon Pablo destroyed most of my colonies...then Haiyan came. When the storm passes i checked my hives and found out that one of my permanent 10 framer Lang hive swarmed. can the strong wind cause the swarm???i am quite baffled now i have only 1 hive left; back to square 1.lol

The last year I lived in Florida, we had 4 hurricanes in 8 weeks. After the 4th storm all that was left of my hives was the row of blocks that they used to sit on. At least you've still got the one hive left to grow from!

Strong winds tend to postpone swarms... but if you have AHB around there, they tend to abscond if they don't like how things are going. That sounds like what happened...

If the hive swarmed, you should have about half of the bees left and cells. If they absconded, then everybody in the hive left.

I am thinking they absconded, looking for a better spot.

Yeah, if there were strong winds blowing directly into the hive, they probably decided "Screw this!" and left to find a more sheltered location.
