On some of my stronger hives, I have an extra super on top with frames with just foundation in them and I'm feeding a light syrup to stimulate them to draw comb; which is working.

Question is: When they stop drawing comb, can I put this box above an inner cover (with a hole in middle) and expect them to pull any syrup down into the main hive body for winter storage, not unlike what I do after harvesting the spring honey and putting the supers back on for them to fix the comb and remove all excess honey?
