I'd like to monitor mites better this year so will be using some sort of sticky board set-up, though I need to make it work with solid bottom boards. I gather that any thin material can be used and standard PAM spray can be used as the "sticky" material. Is it possible for bees to crawl on this unharmed, or is necessary to have some mesh above the sticky surface to keep the bees off of the sticky board. Based on all designs I've seen I assume that it is not good to have the bees walking on the stickyboard.

In an completely unrelated and strictly hypothetical matter, can one expect OAV to kill mites, or to simply dislodge them from their host?
