Have just completed my first ever extraction - am very pleased. I also have some comb honey.

My question is does anything particular have to be done to the honey or the jars before filling with comb and extracted honey?

Thank you,
longarm

It isn't a bad idea to sterilize glass jars
the same way you would for canning. Probably
not needed but a good idea. The main thing is
the moisture level of the honey. It has to
be at or below 18% water.

Congrats.......

If your haven't already (and if it's not too late) you might want to consider freezing your comb honey overnight before you jar it up, for reasons listed several times recently elsewhere in the forum.

I run my jars through the dishwasher - and then hold them in a warm oven to make certain all the moisture is out before the honey goes in. Of course, this only works for a "kitchen-sized" operation
