I have twice seen eensy teeny clusters recover from winter. LIke egg size. But I am in a temperate climate and they were in an established hive full of stores.

WE too have seen "Oh, their just snooper" in March turn into hives that beat packages in July. In all cases they where a black Carniolian type bee.
