It is winter here in NY, and my bees are not flying much if at all, but weekly ssb checks show debris that looks like some white wax, and some darker wax. Here's a pic.
The white in the upper left is frost.

What are they doing in there? Just opening cappings to eat honey?

I'm going to have to get an observation hive so I can correlate activity with ssb debris when it is too cold to open the hive.
