i have a particularly strong hive that i would like to split and let make its own queen. would making a five frame nuc, and letting them make their own queen be as successful as splitting into 2 hive bodies? would making 2 nucs be making my hive too weak?
is a 5 frame nuc, as successfull at raising their own queen as a 10 frame split?
might it be better to leave colony alone untill i find swarm cells and then make several nucs?
any help would be greatly appreciated. i suppose they will all work, just looking for best odd for greatest success.
thanks

I like making a 5 frame nuc and letting them make their own queen. It allows the mother hive to make a surplus amount of honey for me, and the nuc. to have enough stores for the winter. OMTCW
