Around here it is the blueish/purple blooms that produce the honey - but it is more complicated than that. A lot seems to depend on soil type, acidity, rainfall, early or late planting. I never know if its gonna happen or not.
We are surrounded by soybeans each year and in the last four years when they were blooming, we had our dearth. Don't know if its variety, weather or what but we get no nectar from them. Sure wish we got something during this time.
