I was just wondering...

Anyone know how much weight of wax is on a standard Medium frame? I know it takes approx. 8# of honey to make 1# of wax, so I was just curious. Thought maybe it would take a little of the guess work out of how much syrup I am gonna go through with a new hive and new frames.

My guess is less than an ounce of wax in one medium frame of comb with no honey in it. That's one of the reasons the whole 8# of honey to make 1# of wax is kind of irelevant. 1# of wax holds a LOT of pounds of honey. The bigger issue is just having drawn comb speeds up honey production because there is someplace to put the nectar. If the bees have to make comb, then the bees making the wax are just hanging around (literaly) making wax.
