Single Brood Box Question

This year I decided to go from two deeps to a single deep for my brood box. I did this primarily because at age 65 I find going through two deeps in this florida heat it is just too much for me. I was pleasantly surprised at the outcome. One of my hives produced over 100 pounds. For me that is very good. My question is toward the end of the season when the hive prepares for the winter should I remove the queen excluder to the super that still has honey? Or will the bees move the honey down to the brood box as needed?
