I have two deeps on a single hive that overwintered very well. The bees are booming here southeast of Raleigh, NC!! Well, mine are because I left them alone.

I checked in on the ladies last week and saw both deeps were jammed, so I put the only thing I had, a medium, on top of the two deeps to allow for a little breathing room.

Should I split the two deeps to make two hives? I only have one other medium super and will need a bottom board, frames and a top cover before I can split anything. I'm afraid they'll outgrow what I have quickly.

Any suggestions? Any local hardware dealers or beeks I can buy from near Raleigh?

Thanks,
Ed.

I would plan on splitting soon, space is the key and the additional medium probably wont keep the swarm impulse at bay for very long if they are as stron as you imply.
