I caught 2 swarms this spring and put them each in a 10 frame deep. When I checked them today all 10 frames were completely full in both hives. Here in E Tennessee we are about to head into a summer dearth. I was wondering if I should add a second box at this stage? I am afraid they won't have the resources to build comb in the second box but they are so packed out I'm not sure what to do.

Put the boxes on. Might help prevent swarming, might get lucky and they put something in it, and at the least, it won't do any harm.

If you begin feeding you may keep them drawing wax, and perhaps they will complete the comb in the top box.

Add the boxes. It's easier to take them off than to wish you had put them on.
