I live in western ky, have hive that is busting open with bees. I have deep full of brood and several queen cells on the bottom and deep with new comb being drawen out on top. they are filling drawn comb with nectar fast as it's made. I have decided that they are going to swarm in next few days going to try to make shook swarm to use in top bar hive. Question is how long do I keep old queen and 3 to 4 lbs of bees couped up and do I need to move them to another yard, or will they stay put in new hive if confined for few days?

I would not pen them in. I would cage the queen with mini marshmellows in the candy hole and hang her between two bars, then shake the frames of open lava and other frames into the tbh. I would NOT shake any frames that had queen cells in, but brush the bees off. The older bees will fly back to the main hive and they'll raise queen there, the younger bees will stay in the tbh and release the queen.
