I set out a few traps today, Hope to pick something up. I have emailed a number of exterminators in the area hoping to get a swarm that way.

I have one hive but really want to experience the capture of a swarm.

Here hoping!

What is a rainy spring day good for?
Driving around picking up full bait boxes in daylight. I shuffled six around a few days ago.

I quite agree. Swarms are fun to catch and trap. As one of the larger beekeepers in this area, I seem to collect the majority of the local calls and my buddies have requested that I "share the wealth." I'm happy to do so. But as I make these referrals, my buddies sigh about how they have to turn me down because they don't have their equipment ready.

Really? You're not ready and you want more bees? Come on, you have to be ready!

And you have to be ready at a moment's notice to get out and retrieve these loose swarms before they find a more permanent home.

Timing is everything,

I keep my veil, gloves, brush, 2 cardboard boxes, sugar water and queen clips, in my truck, all the time. I got to pick up a basketball sized swarm, this evening, on the way home from work!:D
