I just went to rob a few frames of honey from the upper boxes and wow, got distracted watching the amazing outpouring of drones. It was around 3pm, eastern time. Like they were on a mission, falling all over each other to get out. More drones this spring than I've seen in other years. Around 4ish there's usually a big crush of incoming bees; I call it the rush hour, but this outgoing rush was amazing. Both hives did this, so perhaps it's something "in the air."
