Do you SBB a Nuc.? Making some new ones and was wondering if it buys me anything.? Things I see as a plus are:

Water will run out easily
Mite control
Moisture control

Any reason not too?

I've got both...can't tell a difference in overwintering or time from nuc to full box.

Maybe some added ventilation [in hot/warm weather] because I would think the entrances to nucs would be quite small to begin with. You could use other methods for ventilation though, if that were a problem.

I build with SBB. Of course, I had to buy a bunch of #8 hardware cloth, so...any excuse to use it. :) Anyway it gets hot a lot in Texas and I figure you can't go wrong with ventilation down here.

Just built 5 new ones and did SBB. We live in the rainy area and it lets rain flow through. no more drowned bee's in the bottom when I get the level wrong. :D
