Bees will completely propolize the mesh once the jar is removed. I pull it off with pliers when I’m ready to feed again and replace it with a fresh (unpropolized) piece. The advantage of this is that - when I remove the jar to refill it - the bees can’t fly out. No bee ever drowns😍 View attachment 99274

I duct taped this piece but ‘stapling’ is easier to remove.

Is that the 1/2 gallon? I use that size often
