robbing screen as moving tool?

Question : I know the old "barely move a hive or move it 3mi" adage- but for a short move -- how useful is a robbing screen with just a top entrance open?

I've had what I assume is one of my hives swarm onto a fence (I've had a swarmy year, can only assume the same hive swarmed twice) - and they easily dropped into a nuc. I let them settle in there for a few days, then last night closed it up, moved it the 30 yards or so back to the apiary. How good is robbing screen (just using the top entrance) as a method to force them to relocate and readjust?
