I have 5 established hives. Two weeks ago I installed a new package of bees bringing me up to 6 total. I put a hive top feeder on the new hive, used entrance reducer and checked on the queen a week later all was well. They had taken all of the syrup so I filled it up again, careful not to spill a drop. A week later I go to check and notice LOTS of bees around the hive, more than seems normal. None of the other hives have feeders, could I have robbing going on and if so what to do?
Thanks

During a honey flow I usually don't see robbing, so feeding the weak hive is okay. As soon as the flow stops I take the feeder off of the weak hive and take the supers off of the strong hives. I take frames of capped honey from the strong hives to give to the weak hives. If the strong hives need more honey too, I feed them, taking frames of capped honey to the weak ones.

Feeding weak hives with strong ones around without a flow is doomed to failure. I speak from experience.....
