I have a deep frame which was damaged, but it full of capped honey. I read that if I put the frame outside the inner cover (with a super surrounding it and outer cover on top) the bees will take out the honey and move it back to the hive. This is the same place I have my usual feeders.

My question is: do I need to scratch open the capped comb, or will they be able to get the honey anyway?

Thanks,

Steven

If you scratch it and the weather is warm it will run down all over everything. I would only open few for the scent they will take it from there. Unless you want the honey in one specific hive, from experience if you set up a box with just that frame in it at almost any distance the bees will find it and it will not make it through the day if it is warm enough to fly.
