I installed a package of bees in my new hive yesterday.How long should I leave the entrance reducer on and should i be using the small or large entrance on the reducer? Thanks,Ken

The smaller, the better. You will need to leave it on until the coloney can defend it's self. Usually about 3-4 weeks, or until they cover 7-8 frames.

I normally leave the reducer on until it creates an obvious hinderance to the bees going in and out. When the bees have a bottleneck at the opening and are stumbling over one another to get into the hive, then I go to the next larger opening. When the bees start having a problem getting in through this opening, I then remove the reducer completely.
