Hi beeks.

One of my hives (this one didn't make it through winter) had a few syrup/honey frames that it didn't get around to capping last fall before the cold set in for winter. How do you all deal with this situation? Scrape it down to foundation and let them start from scratch or something else? I'm guessing that since it didn't get capped, the food source isn't good anymore. Correct assumption? It's definitely sold and won't run but has been exposed to open air for some time.

TIA

I would just put it in as feed. If you are worried put it outside the hive. They will clean it up rob it. If it is bad they wont. Should be ok to feed them though. Fermented at worst. If you dont want to start a robbing frenzy put it in a box above an inner cover.
