I am going to try to copy Mike Palmers 2 story double nuc set-ups this year . While I am positive I wont be any where near as successful I hope to start learning the ins and outs of a sustainable apiary . My question is , is it more important to have the entrances facing to the south side of the apiary (which would put them right next to each other) or is it more important to have the entrances at opposite ends to keep the colonies separate ? My gut tells me that you wont pick up any real heat advantage with a south facing entrance , but then it also tells me raising a bunch of bugs is easy :) Thoughts ?

I'm doing the same thing and planning on entrances at opposite ends. I'm going to use them for mating queens and don't need queens going back into the wrong colony.
