I ordered some queens from a breeder, and when they arrived, two of them were dead. So, since I had already killed the queen, I decided to just combine a nuc I had that was doing really good. Well, I had to put it in a regular medium box, so I just left the little nuc box there. A couple of days later (not sure how long) I decided to put the box away. I lifted the lid and there were a TON of bees in there. I thought maybe there were a bunch of foragers out at the time I combined it. So, I decided to just combine them with another hive. After I did that, I thought Oh man, I hope that wasn’t a little swarm that took up residence. What do you think? If it was and there was a queen, what will happen to the hive after they chew through the paper?

It would be survival of the strongest queen. I would guess it was just the foragers from the nuc you combined though.
