Hello everyone. I am in south west PA. I am suppose to pick up my bees on 3-22-2023, the temp is suppose to be around 48 degrees. I will be traveling for approx 1 hrs. I am afraid that it will be to cold to haul the bees in the bed of my pickup truck. Can I put the packages inside a new pillow case to hall haul them in the cab? The bees are in 2 - 3 lbs. packages.

how many
I can get 10 in my back seat.
leave space between, look at them when you get there they should be spaced with sticks, that is a good trucking distance.
4-6 inches is ok for an hour.
no pillow case needed.
Do check to insure all the boxes are closed well :)

they like "Deep Purple" BTW it calms them. or in a pinch BTO

If cool I would NOT put them in the back of the truck.

take your suit and smoker "just in case"

Have fun.

We got 6 in the back seat of an old Buick one time when it was too cold to put them in the trunk, drove them back from Mann Lake, roughly 3 hours, but we stopped to eat on the way, so it took us almost 5.

Laid plastic down on the seat, gave them a good spray of sugar water for the trip and placed a couple of those reflector car window shades over them. All was good - All survived - No stings were received, just a handful of hitch-hikers along for the ride who didn't bother us much at all.

I'd do it again if I had too :)

Child in Time was what I loved when learning how to sail in Jastarnia (Poland) sailing camp when I was in 2nd grade of high school. They played it through the camp speakers. Long time ago.

There is a lot of Deep Purple on Spotify one can listen to when driving bee packages home:)

I have used a mesh laundry bag before to keep the stragglers with a nuc/package.

It might have been this. The mesh is open enough that it does not block any air flow, but the stragglers typically do not get out. I think a sheet may be to insulating.
