I am starting 2# packages in a little over a week and have approximately 4 frames of honey per package spread out over 8 frames per package available for feeding.
This is a dead-out situation and there are bees in some of the cells that will have to be removed on about 1/2 the comb area.
My question is---do I need to scratch all the honey in the combs or should I just scratch a few frames and leave it up to the bees to figure out they have to uncap the rest when needed?
I intend to feed sugar syrup as well.
Thanks for any input.
