Saw a queen back into a supersedure cell while doing an inspection today, don't know if she laid an egg or not, she is a spring queen, didn't think she would lay in one, anybody know what the deal is with that, thanks for any input you may have

I think the workers still have the option to remove the egg, if laid, and if needed or to tear down cells at any stage. Not so sure the queen is that much the brains of the operation.

to Dave, I figured the bees built the cell around the egg, but this was an almost completed queen cell hi on the side of the frame and the queen backed right down into it and I assume laid an egg, if she wasn't marked I would had never seen it, a deep hive no swarm cells on bottoms of frames, thanks
