Yes, that's it! I've been trying to describe the sound to others without success. Now I know how to do that, thanks to you. I also liken it to the sound you can sometimes make by sliding a straw up and down through the opening in the lid of a fast food beverage.
Oh Boy, thats the sound I have in my new Nuc that has a diminished population. I just accepted that some of the bees had simply moved to a weaker hive 2 feet to its left, but now I wonder the same thing, are they superseding her. She is certainly in there, I saw her yesterday, but there is definite kazoo sound in the front middle of the hive. No queen cells yet though.
