After reading Clarence Collison’s write up on all the issues that queens can and do have. I’m no longer tempted to “baby” a queen in the hope she’ll “turn around and start producing.”
She doesn’t lay the way a good queen will, she’s gone.
Most of my queens never see 2 years. I pinch 90% every year. My solution to all queen problems is to pinch sad/ bad queens insert nucleus colony. Adding a nuc fixes almost all problems. That's why beekeepers that maintain tons of nucs can fix most problems that come along.
