Got a huge colony from an open porch. I vacuumed and moved them as carefully as I could. Got one deep and 2 mediums full of frames. Still, I'm not sure if I have a queen or not. I tried to buy one: shipping only to MI is $31 since it's cold at night. Any suggestions or does anybody know a source in Michigan?

Check the porch 24 hours after removal. If you didn't get her, there should be a small ball of bees protecting her. You can collect her then.
Check for eggs after 5 to 6 days. You should have eggs if you got her without hurting her. You should have queen cells if you didn't get her or if you hurt or killed her in the vaccuum.
Then worry about buying a queen. I would prefer to have her than a bought queen.
