I didn't have a camera today, but I saw something I'd never seen before.

I was inspecting some nucs and different splits done a few weeks ago.
One nuc I had marked as having a queen cell.
I saw some eggs and larvae, so I was happy to see that she made it back and was laying.

Then I saw a queen cell with the door still hinged open. Then I looked inside and saw larvae floating in jelly! I thought wow, either they are wanting to swarm or supercede her already? And, being a QC, she obviously had to be the one that laid an egg down in there.

I had never seen a QC getting re-used like that, has anyone else?

I just gave that frame to a nuc whose queen apparently never made it back.......
