I'm using foundationless frames. I have to cut some comb and put it in them. I use vertical skewers as support. Obviously, I need to take them out to put the comb in, but should I try to put them back through the comb to support it? Do I need to put in ANY additional support?

You only need additional support in deep frames. Mediums and shallows are fine without it. I use 20# test fishing line. It works great and it could be used to support sections of already drawn comb by putting the line on each side of the comb through the same endbar hole or one side then the other through all four holes.
I thought you just put the comb in the frame, and wrapped either string, fishing line, or rubber bands around the frame (both ways) to keepe the comb in until the bees connected it.
