Hi,
I have some old frames with old comb that may be 4-7 years old, it was in use up until last year. There is a lot of propolis glued all over the frames as well.

My two questions:

Does propolis lose it's potency (in terms of making holistic tinctures or just eating bits of it) after a certain time- does anyone know?

And has anyone ever tested propolis for possible pesticide accumulation the way they've been testing the wax in hives?

Any insights into this would be kindly appreciated.

Propolis was used to embalm the dead in Egypt and they are stll dead. I have never seen any research that it looses any positive benefits. It seems inconceivable considering the chemical nature of the components. That is also why propolis does absorb chemicals, just like the sponge we call honeycomb.
