I just bought a Sundance I pollen trap and installed it this weekend. I was reading the instructions and it sounds like it takes 3 days for them to accept it and another two weeks for it to actually get going. It also talks about making sure you have proper ventilation.

In order to get Pollen do I need to plug the cork holes in the two Hive Bodies? I would be concerned that they wouldn't have enough ventilation if I do that.

I too have used the Sundance I trap. I have been very happy with it. You definitely need to close all other ways of access to the the hive to force the bees through the trap. I feel it is a good idea to have a ventilated top of some kind to aid in ventilation. For my hives it took 2 days before things were "normal" again but once they got used to it it did collect some beautiful clean pollen!
