Such a variety of different colors sometimes with pollen. Is there a way to determine what they are harvesting from based on the color of the pollen they are returning to the hive with? I'm particularly interested in where they are getting the bight orange pollen at the moment.

Someone else posted a link to a site with a rundown of colors, but I have it bookmarked on my main computer (I'm on the laptop). Use the search function on here & you'll find it.

That said, you're bright orange pollen is probably dandelion. I know my girls are starting to bring it in by the bucketful, and I've seen them working the blossoms myself.

thanks beginnerhives!!!

i posted that link - hope everyone gets a chance to put it in favorites
Ya. Thanks Concrete-bees,

My bees are taking in many different colors of honey and now I have a better clue of what color is what. I was way off on the dandelion color. If you go by the color of the outside of the dandelion you think the pollon is lighter than it really is. I never amagined a blue color pollen. This site is very good.
