Since i started keeping bees ive always went foundationless. They always did good. But i never took honey so it really wasnt a issue. My wife likes to get the honey. So ive decided to get plastic foundation and bought a small honey extractor. The few plastic frames ive used so far are drawn out funky. Its like they made waves. Its high in some places and low in others. I do put xtra wax on the frames. I have not gotten 1 frame drawn out completely and all even. Is there a trick or what. I feel like i have to pull the crazy frame out scrape it clean and start over. It just seems to freaking hard to get these drawn out how they should be.

Try locating them closer to the brood nest so they draw them out for comb for the queen to lay in as opposed to just using it for storage.

You could also try wax foundation with imbedded wires. They will probably hold up better during the extraction.
