This is a good design.I followed these plans about 10 yrs ago,but only for two deep frames.I had a small colony last almost two yrs until it crashed from Varroa. It was particularly enjoyable in the winter when the rest of my hives were "sleeping".
When I switched to all meds,I donated it to a nature center.Unfortunately, they never used it and then it disappeared. Someone must have liked it.
I have been thinking about making another, but will change the design.Having the glass(or plexiglass which would be safer) slide into grooves is very awkward for cleaning, which needs to be done at least once a year because of all those dirty little feet.I will incase the glass in a separate frame (like an old storm window) held on by screws and incorporate grooves for the luan covers.
Thanks for posting this JW.
Maybe this will encourage me to get off my .........
