Hello,
I was thinking of boosting one hive that overwintered but is lagging behind my other hives. I might re-queen as well. If I put a brood frame (with nurse bees) into this hive will they fight or will this be accepted?
Thanks,
mixofsam

They will accept them. You'll hear a roar when you put it in, but don't worry about it. We do it all the time.

Thanks NCbeek. Beeonefarms, I actually have my hives out in the Fennimore area. I would not call myself very successful. Had about 18 hive going into winter, came out with 4 and of those only 2 are going gangbusters.

That is 4 more than many of us came out of winter with. I bet you learned a lot of what not to do for next winter?

The roar is pretty crazy. I put a bar of brood and nurse bees in a Top Bar and it was so loud I thought that maybe I accidentally put in a bar with the queen on it!

My bees are just not reading the same things I am!!!! LOL I put a bar of eggs, brood, and nurse bees in a different hive, last Saturday, and did not hear a peep out of them!
That along with a few other things that I have observed so far this spring has led me to believe that I need to start reading my beekeeping books to my bees. Maybe over lunch, peanut butter and honey sandwiches anyone? :D
