http://www.honeybeeworld.com/ has tons of pics of beehives and the site owner allows people to use stuff from his site for NON-commercial purposes with full attribution. It would probably be a good idea to send him an email first though, just to be on the safe side.

Great Photo Dubhe.
I lived in Suffolk County (the Islips) for many years. That photo looks like North Shore to me.

Here is a hive and two nucs from last winter:

The photo is pretty dark though due to the dark clouds. The two nucs are on an 18" stand.

Hey Dubhe, I took the family into Canada some 22 years ago and although I was not keeping bees at the time I do clearly remember taking photos of beehives covered in snow just like your pic.

It was all pretty amazing for me to see at the time coming from a subtropical climate. That image is imprinted on my memory

Buz- Yup, north shore. My suburban hives (these) tend to be healthier & more productive than the ones I have placed at farms.

****- What I want to know is how do you keep your hive tops on, being that they're upside down over there. Seriously, my oldest is studying at Wollongong for a few years, he loves it there. I hope I can talk him into coming back home some day.

We use bungy straps to keep the lids on, Dubhe

Wollongong is one of our industrial cities just south of Sydney. It is however in some very pretty country and the people there are just great. No wonder he likes it
