Still I was unaware that people could get any infection from Paenibacillus larvae and found it interesting.

I just scanned it quickly, but why are they injecting honey with methadone? Just happened to be what they had laying around or what?

It appears that some legitimate pharmacies may be using sugar syrup (or honey) in an attempt to make it difficult for abusers to inject a solution that was intended for oral consumption.

Methadone hydrochloride, which is widely used for opioid substitution, can be mixed with viscous substances such as syrup to yield a solution that is not suitable for misuse through self-injection. Methadone syrup is intended to be taken only as an oral medication. Some pharmacies use honey instead of syrup to prepare such a solution.

But, these fools inject themselves anyway.

This situation seems to be similar to those folks that drink denatured alcohol even though the alcohol has been intentionally contaminated by the manufacturer to discourage people from drinking it.

Good grief. My wife had fertility issues and I had to give her injections of a wide variety of stuff when she was getting pregnant with our daughter. They were all painful, but managable. Once she was pregnant, I had to give her progesterone in oil. It was the worst. It was much thicker than the other medications and she'd cry more often than not when I was giving her the injection. That stuff wasn't half as thick as honey... I cannot even fathom trying in inject honey.

The little one was totally worth it though.

Sniffing glue seems like a healthy lifestyle choice compared to injecting honey.
