Planning to start a new hive with all medium frames and no queen excluder. How do other beeks handle the honey harvest with an open brood nest if the queen has put brood up into the supers that you might have wanted to extract? Do you just leave any frame that has a little bit of brood in it?

To quote Kim Flottum: "Allowing brood juice in your honey is simply a crime."

That said, do what works best for you and the bees. :)

Yes. Since I only have a handful of hives, I can harvest frame-by-frame. I take an empty super out with me and take frames of honey from the supers, brush off the bees and place them in the empty super (cover with a towel to keep the bees out). Repeat until I've finished with all the hives & supers.
