I checked yesterday and both my hives are done. I am trying to look at it that I now have 50 some drawn combs to start my second year with! Sad part is that I know what killed them, and it was me. I had a mouse problem a month ago, fixed that problem, but left them with not enough ventilation. I had ice, and frosty bees!
If it makes you feel any better, it was the absurd cold temps for an extended period of time that did your bees in. All the ventillation in the world would not have prevented the ice and frost inside the hive.
