I have had some in my solar melter for over a week with some days getting over 80 Deg. and hasn't done anything to it. Is this junk or what. Stays in shape of the comb. I have put some other comb in it and that melted. So what is the deal.

My experince has been you don't get much wax from dark combs , but they make great atractions for swarm traps.

Just wait til it gets warmer. Use some screen and cheesecloth and eventually the wax will start melting and running in a light yellow color. Of course it all depends how old and dry those cells are. What is left over after a good melt needs to get thrown away. Take care and have fun

But the wax is still in there and will melt out in a solar melter. On a nice hot sunny day I have got a lot of wax out of those black combs. It does have a dark shade though.

I put some in a crockpot for over a week and it wouldn't melt down. I turned it into crumbles for garden use.

What is a wax press?
