You can raise queens while having a large Purple Martin colony. I was very concerned that I would not be able to. I have made several splits this spring and put swarm cells in them. I left 3 of the splits at home and took the others to a friends apiary. I don't know how many successful ones I have at his house yet, but at home I left 3 splits and now have 3 laying queens. Woo Hooo! I will work on making bigger fatter queens now.

I got my first girl back today too......Or I found her today, I was tossing and turning trying to figure out what I was going to do with the package, saw the hatched cell last week, went in today and there she was. YES!! Would love to post a pic but cant get it done on this site. sent a e mail to "contact us", never heard back. Congrats!! G
It's not hard to post a picture, it's just not real self explanatory. This is how I do it. Load you photos to photobucket. Once you have the picture uploaded, click on the IMG bar to the right of the photo. Once you do that, click on the "Link" link above. It's looks like the earth with a link of chain below it. Delete what pops up in the bar and paste the IMG link from photobucket into the bar. If these are the correct instructions, there will be another picture below this message. If not, then I don't know what I'm doing. LOL
