My camellias are in bloom and covered with bees. I took a photo of a wasp on one flower and noted how clearly her ocelli (three single eyes on her head) were shown.

Wonderful composiiton Dan!

Those oceli are the reason why you can't cast a shadow over most insects without scaring them off. Their oceli act as light sensors, and since they are in a triangle they use them to determine the speed and direction of a predator, or photoghrapher, with simple triagulation.
