Well this is what's left of my nuc yard .

Had 13 what a year so cold just all the bad and none of the good.
Looks like I'm going to end up with 9 DBL. deeps and 6 nucs .
Hoping to start feeding soon.

Is it for keeping out the chicken or dogs?

I see the problem. Improper use of a gargoyle. It belongs in a high vantage point. Cant protect anything setting on the ground.

Do you have any thoughts about this--in particular, you showed heavy mite infestations in many of your hives, which were then saved with successive treatments. Any correlation with the hives that didn't make it?

We had a long cold winter the worst since I started beekeeping . Most my dead outs where from starvation so it was my fault. I plan on only getting better and will be working on my bee nutrition and varroa management . Its going to be a great year I'm sure.

I suppose you can blame yourself but ....you did try to over winter nucs in a terrible year! Think of the ones that came through safely...no mean feat. Good on ya
