Hello all,

today I picked up two nucs and placed them in my yard. about 3 hours later I went to check on them and they look like they are both being robbed, there is a lot of fighting and I see bees that are loaded with pollen battling with bees. I cut a small hole into each plug (so they have a smaller entrance to defend). I also put some hardware cloth in the shape of a Z to help block the entrance. my question is what should I do next? should I move the hives? How far? this is my first attempt at beekeeping. forgive me if this is a stupid question.

thanks

danny

yeah you should move them or atleast try a robber screen. Generally folks place nucs away from established hives in other yard. During spring robbing shouldn't be much of an issue as there is a plethora of pollen and nectar. As things dry up small hives can easily succumb to robbing.
