Hi everyone,

Installed a couple nucs a couple of weeks ago. They had these hand built frame feeders in the box and one of the nucs the feeder has rows of comb and brood. I couldn't get all the bees out of the feeder so I just leaned it up against the landing board. Two weeks later and there is still quite a few bees in the feeder. I'm hoping the queen isn't in there. The other feeder didn't have any comb.

So any ideas on what to do with this? I've been tempted to cut out the comb and put on the top cover.

Thanks for the tip Carl. I haven't opened the hive since I put it together. I'm planning on doing that tomorrow actually. Mothers Day so maybe I'll spray them all with some nice sugar water. :)

I think I'll take your advice and just leave them alone until they emerge.

I didn't take notice of your location the last time I posted. It's possible that the brood in the feeder that is outside the hive has gotten "chilled" and is dead. It takes enough bees to cover the cells to keep them warm. What have your overnight low temps been like for the last two weeks?
Yeah, that's probably an issue. Past few nights it's been record cold here for this time of year. Freezing with some light frost. Probably should dump the rest of the bees in the hive and cut out all the comb.
