Was checking my hives 3 days ago (59 degrees) bees flying, seen 2 wasp fighting bees on landing board of one hive. One took off with a bee in it's mouth, i found a flat board and walked to the front of the hive to kill the other one, well after two stings i decided they didn't need my help:eek:.but i left the board there i case they needed it (didn't want to carry anything that would slow me down):D. Why do stings hurt worse in cold weather? Jack

I've heard winter bees have a hotter sting than summer bees. I wonder if part of it is that you don't get stung as often during the winter, so your natural resistance to stings lessens. During the summer, stings are more frequent.

I wonder if part of it is that the skin, being cold, is more sensitive?
